Jack plate

The decks are dry fitted to see what she is going to look like.

Here is a view from the front.

This shows the long tappered bow that should help keep the spray down when making long runs across the bay.

The Sole is now installed as well as the gunnels and shear

All the interior framing is now in place and the sole ready for a layer glass and paint.

I added a couple of stiffeners in the stern also.

I wanted to keep the boat a light as possible so decided to use 1/4" okoume as much as possible. This requires adding stiffeners under the deck to minimize flex but needed to be light. I ended up using blue foam to create a form which I covered with glass.

This shows the rear deck with stiffeners. The bulkhead also adds support in the middle.

This shows a closeup of the stiffener. I used one layer of cloth, 10 strands of heavy glass strand, followed by another layer of cloth. The glass strand provides a strong unidirectional layer that is very light

Fairing

Fairing has begun. This is done using a Epoxy, Microballon, Silica slurry put on with a spreader. Lot's of sanding later it begins to look like a boat.

The transom is built from 2 layers of 1/4" Plywood with an 1/2" end grain Balsa wood core. This is a picture of the Balsa.

I flipped the Boat and started taping the seams

Decks

The decks are cut and test fit. Side frames in the cockpit are also in but still need gunnels.

Sole

Stringers and Frames are installed under the sole.

The sole is cut out and test fit.

Bulkheads

Bulkheads are installed after the interior is glassed.

The front bulkheads have the interior cut out to make the lighter.

The center frames are cut down for the sole.

Fiberglassing the inside of the Hull

Biaxial Fiberglass Cloth is used on the bottom of the hull. Here it is cut and layed out ready for epoxy resin.
